RIP DJ AM – Adam Goldstein
Man this has to be the final blow for the summer, DJ AM died Friday, August 28th, 2009. I didn’t want to believe it until the weekend was over. But it’s on all the news sites now and not just TMZ. He was sober from alcohol for 11 years and free of drugs for 4 years. It only took one relapse from him to end his life.

Don’t have a drink to remember Adam but live your life to the fullest drug free because that is what he would probably want.

Felt 3: Murs + Slug + Aesop Rock= A Tribute To Rosie Perez

It was just announced today that the next Felt album, which is a collaborative project between Murs and Slug, will be a tribute to Rosie Perez. The previous releases, Felt 1 was dedicated to Christina Ricci and Felt 2 was a dedication to Lisa Bonet. It was previously announced that Aesop Rock is the producer for this latest project. The first Felt was backed by The Grouch of Living Legends and Felt 2 was crafted by Ant of Atmosphere. I look forward to this being a dope release. Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez will be dropping on November 17, 2009 on Rhymesayers Entertainment.
Rock The Bells 2009 Recap
Since 2004, Guerilla Union has thrown the Rock the Bells music festival every summer touring coast to coast, featuring artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang (with and without ODB), and Rage Against the Machine, and giving each festival go-er an experience that they’ll never forget.
This basic description would get any music lover to go, but why does this not excite me this year? I try to listen to the discography of every artist on the line up, Nas’ illmatic, Sage Francis’ spoken word, Damian Marley’s Halfway Tree, I even watched Ice Cube’s Are We There Yet?
Nothing. I’ve got nothing and I haven’t even been to the festival yet, or I think I’ve been listening to too much of “You’re a Jerk.” Oh well! Check me out as I review, judge, and jerk Rock the Bells. ”
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!
Dudes, if you want to be awed today, look no further than this video. Crafted in 1500 hours with stop-motion LEGO, it is an insane tribute to 8-bit gaming and pixel art.

Nike Presents: The Hyperizers

These are my favorite commercials on tv right now. Nike presents The Hyperizers, which is a spoof of a Hiphop group consisting of NBA ballers going by the names “Fog Raw”(Mo Williams),”Ice-O”(Rashard Lewis),”Chief Blocka”(Andre Iguodala) and “Velvet Hoop”(Kevin Durant). DJ Quik made the dope track and appears in the video as well. They take it back with the jheri curls, brick sized cell phones, and shiny clothes. Peep the complete video below, which was cut up into several different commercials.
Shaq Vs
Shaq Vs A new reality show series featuring Shaquille O’Neal against other pro athletes at their own sports. I had doubts about the show. I hate to admit it but it was quite enjoyable. The fake trash talking, the cheesyness of the show but it’s all for charity and it’s fun to see Shaq goofing off.

‘School of Rock’ set to open in Oklahoma
Here’s an excerpt:
The school’s curriculum will be an Americanized version of the one taught at the ACM in Great Britain. Students will be taught not just about music or production, but more serious subjects such as contracts, taxes and copyright laws, along with “simple things such as getting on and off stage quick,” Booker said.

Music Video: Modest Mouse- “King Rat”

This video for Modest Mouse’s joint, “King Rat,” was directed by now deceased actor Heath Ledger. Ledger actually died before the video was actually put together, but he came up with the idea and drew up the storyboard for it. The Masses, a film and music company that Ledger was a partner in completed his vision. It’s a trippy song and an even trippier and graphic video, but it does have a message. The song is featured on Modest Mouse’s latest EP, No One’s First, And You’re Next. Check it out!
